At Kliqx, Gen Z new faces audition from their phones and get cast, with no agency and no portfolio. A new generation is showing up as itself and leading the scene, and the way in is more open than it looks: you do not need to know anyone or have a big following. This guide covers what has changed for new faces, why followers do not decide who gets cast, what casting teams look at, your first steps, and the one-minute audition.

What has changed for new faces?

Your phone has opened the door: a casting team can now see you before you ever walk into a room. A casting used to start with a printed book and a call from an agency. Today it can start with a video filmed at home, because brands want people who look real on a small screen. Audiences scroll past faces that all look the same, so campaigns keep asking for someone new: someone with their own style, their own energy and their own way of talking to the camera.

  • Your phone is enough to be seen by a casting team
  • Natural beats retouched on a small screen
  • Video shows what a photo cannot: how you move, talk and react
  • Brands in Egypt and the Gulf keep looking for new faces
  • Your own style counts for more than a copied look

That does not make modelling easy. It still takes patience, and showing up ready. It does mean the first step no longer depends on who you know.

Do followers decide who gets cast?

No. Followers do not decide who gets cast as a model; fit with the role does. A following helps a creator who is selling her own voice. A model is cast for how she looks and feels in someone else's story, so a casting team with a brief in hand looks at the face, not the number under it. Many campaigns want a face nobody has seen yet, which is exactly what a new face with a small account brings.

Keep your accounts tidy all the same. A few recent, natural photos help people find you, and anything you would not want a brand to see stays private. If you enjoy posting, post. Just do not wait for a number before you audition.

What do casting teams look at?

Casting teams look at presence first: whether the camera wants to stay on you. They are not looking for perfection. They are looking for the person who fits this role, this brand and its audience, and that changes with every brief. Every time, though, they watch for the same few things:

  • Presence: you hold the camera's attention, even standing still
  • Ease: you stay yourself when the camera rolls
  • Direction: you listen, adjust and try again without losing your energy
  • Range: you can play it serious, light, or anywhere in between
  • Reliability: you answer messages, arrive on time and come prepared

Reliability surprises a lot of new faces. A casting can move within a day, so the new face who answers quickly and arrives ready is the one a casting team remembers.

What are my first steps?

Start with what you already have: your phone, daylight and a plain wall.

  • Take a few simple photos in daylight, with no filters: a headshot, a full-length photo and a natural smile
  • Practise on camera: say your name and one true thing about you, then watch it back once
  • Decide what you want: beauty campaigns, fashion shows, magazines or commercials
  • Do a test shoot when you can, and agree in writing on who may use the photos
  • Audition where a real casting team watches, and check every casting before you go

Keep your look close to your photos, sleep well before a shoot, and look after yourself: no role is worth a crash diet or anything that harms your health. Modelling rewards patience. Every audition is practice, and every shoot, however small, teaches you something.

How does the one-minute audition work?

At Kliqx, you audition in one minute, recorded live on your phone, right in the browser. It is the general cast, and it is how new faces join the Kliqx talent pool: there is no video to upload, nothing to edit and no account to make. You sign up with who you are, how we reach you and your photos, then you introduce yourself on camera. It takes no experience, no portfolio, no agency and no follower minimum.

The Kliqx casting team watches every audition and puts talent forward for the roles they fit, in Egypt and for brands and startups in the Gulf. When the team wants to see more, it may send you a longer audition. Face the light, take a breath, say your name and show up as you are. Your first time in front of the camera can be today.
